All Positions are CLOSED! We'll See You in Minneapolis!
Every football player, and coach for that matter, dreams of taking the the field at an NFL stadium on a Sunday. This is your chance to play on the same field as the Minnesota Vikings and their opponents.
Junior Day National provides regsitered players with that opportunity while also working with and being evaluated by great college football coaches from around the country. All coaches attending are "decision makers" within their program. Coaches from NCAA DII and DIII will be attending this event.
Last year’s event featured players from 44 different states and Washington D.C. We are expecting this year’s event to be more successful than last year and fill just as quickly. In order to comply with all college rules, roster spots cannot be held and will fill on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Junior Day Football National Showcase will culminate at US Bank Stadium, Home of the Minnesota Vikings, in Minneapolis, MN on Sunday, July 28th. Practices, skills testing, and other Saturday events will take place at nearby locations in the Twin Cities. Families will have time on Saturday to enjoy the Twin Cities.
The Junior Day Football National Showcase will feature college head coaches, coordinators, and top assistants to make sure that each college program can properly evaluate all football players in attendance. In other words, the college coaches attending are "decision makers" at their respective colleges and universities.
All players will demonstrate their skills on Sunday at US Bank Stadium.
Offensive and Defensive Linemen will showcase their talents at US Bank Stadium prior to the 7v7 games through testing and other evaluative metrics. OL and DL players will have their own set of awards and competitive titles to be won throughout their time on the turf of US Bank Stadium.
Quarterbacks, Running backs, Wide Receivers, Tight Ends, Linebackers, Cornerbacks, and Safeties will be broken into teams for 7v7 football games for Sunday’s events. Games will be scheduled much closer to the event. Typically, a round-robin segment is played for seedings and a playoff bracket is held to determine a champion.
Players particpating in the Lineman portion or the 7v7 portion of the national showcase will receive roughly the same amount of time on the field at US Bank Stadium.
On Saturday there will be a college coach-led discussion on college athletics at the conclusion of your team's designated practice time. Saturday will consist of various testing in football specific metrics for all players attending as well as a team practice and big man events. Families will also have time in their day to enjoy and explore the Twin Cities.
Team Showcase:
Each team will play on the field at US Bank Stadium in a 7v7 format with college coaches on the sidelines coaching, instructing, and evaluating. Players will also be evaluated in measurable skills like the 40-yard dash, broad jump, and other metrics. Teams will be assigned by the Junior Day Football staff. College football coaches will lead each team and will ensure equitable playing time for all positions. Due to the nature of the event, teammate requests cannot be accepted.
Teams will be divided equally based on registrations, however, a typical team will consist of: | |
2 Quarterbacks | 5 Linebackers |
2 Running backs | 4 Cornerbacks |
6 Wide Receivers | 4 Safeties |
2 Tight Ends |
Much like our Junior Day regional events, we will put college coaches on the field with high school players who want to learn about today’s game from the actual coaches who are at the college level. However, there are some great additions to our national event that you won’t see in a regional setting:
The average high temperature in late July in Minnesota is only 82 degrees. Not only is this the nation's premier summer showcase event, but it's a great vacation for the entire family. The football schedule is known well ahead of time giving your family the chance to explore the Twin Cities and the surrounding area. The front desk at the hotel will have many great suggestions for you and your family to attend before or after the day's football activities.
